Who is This For?
If you are buying a Dungeons and Dragons product for a loved one, you might consider giving this if:
1.) He or she is an absolute beginner to the game. Every player, including the DM needs to have their own copy of this book. It is the one referred to time and time again in the midst of the game. When two or more people have to share the same book, it tends to slow down the game, especially the fight scenes which is deadly to the enjoyment of the game.
2.) She is an accomplished Dungeons and Dragons player in an earlier edition but is now looking to try out the 3.5 edition rules. They are substantially different from the 3rd edition and 4th edition rules.
3.) He is frequently a DM and he finds himself having to loan out his Player’s Handbook to a fellow player repeatedly. DMs need to have their own copy of the Player’s Handbook and lending it out slows the game down. Sometimes a back-up copy is worth its weight in gold.
Do not buy this if:
1.) He is still uncertain if he wants to continue playing the game or not.
2.) She has two or more copies of the Player’s Handbook. Unless she specifically states she needs yet another copy, a third or fourth copy isn’t worth the money.
