Who is This For?
If you are buying a Dungeons and Dragons product for a loved one, you might consider giving this if:
1.) He is a collector and would like a pristine set of core rule books in an attractive slip case. Note: These are not the ultra-attractive designed-to-be-collectible copies of the core rules (Called the Deluxe Edition). Individually they’re the exact same copies one purchases individually for game playing.
2.) She is new to the game but has already shown an interest in taking a turn as a Dungeon Master (DM). Very creative people, especially naturally born storytellers tend to want to try their hand a DMing sooner or later.
3.) He has expressed an interest in the game but has no group yet. This person may wish to form a group with his friends and often gets picked to be the DM — so having a copy of Dungeon Master’s Guide, and Monster Manual is critical.
4.) She’s played Dungeons and Dragons 3rd ed. or 3.5 edition and is ready to try the fourth edition. The biggest advantage of the fourth edition, besides improving the rules, is that Wizards of the Coast designed an internet component making game play on-line easier. Thus she can play with friends all around the world at anytime from the comfort of her own home.
Do not buy this if:
1.) He is absolutely new to the game and has a group to play with. Pick up just the Player’s Handbook and dice. If he continues to play over a period of time, then pick up more Dungeons and Dragons items.
2.) She has played Dungeons and Dragons for years and seems to be bored with it. Pick up a new role-playing game to rekindle her interest.
